Firewire To Usb Adapter Driver

If the laptop has an express card slot I would recommend a card like one of these:http /www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N0027I have looked for USB/Firewire hubs and what I found is that the combo hubs require a firewire and USB connection on the computer. Is your camera off when you make the connection? You could try, if you haven't already, connecting with the camera off (laptop on) and then turning on the camera to see if a connection is made. Since USB and Firewire use two different protocols to communicate with the camera I guessing it won't work.Does the Panasonic camcorder you speak of record to tape or an SD card?

Kenrivers and Cin19 - thank you for your responses. I followed the link supplied by Cin19 and sure enough, the cable is at Amazon BUT reading the reviews on the cable, I decided to stick to Ken's view that 1394 and usb are totally different protocols and the do NOT talk to each other at this point in time. In theory the adaptor I bought should harbour the same technology as the cable and it does NOT work.

Firewire

I tend to agree with Ken that my only option would be to use the Panasonic's dedicated cable for direct output via RCA sockets to TV, connect this up to the standard analogue to DV converter and in this way land with a mpeg type of file on the laptop. However - this entails considerable quality loss as compared to the avi files created when the camcorder speaks to my PC trough the 1394 cable.

Hey Dinesh,Thanks for posting! The FireWire 410 is a legacy product with limited available support. It is not supported for use with Windows 10 but you should be able to get it working with your Windows 7 machine.Fortunately, there's not much to do to get set up. Let's start by installing the driver for the FireWire 410. You can download that from the link below:When the driver has been installed, power down your computer. When your computer is off, connect the FireWire 410 to your computer's FireWire port. If you are using a 6-pin FireWire cable, you will not need to use a power adapter - it can be powered by the FireWire bus with a 6-pin cable.

If you are using a 4-pin FireWire cable, the power adapter is required.Power on your computer. When your computer has started, power on the FireWire 410. It is important to connect and disconnect your FireWire devices when your computer is turned off to avoid damaging the device (this is referred to as hotplugging). With the driver installed and your 410 properly connected and turned on, you should be all ready to select it as an audio I/O device in the software you are using.I hope that helps you! My problem has not been solved, and hence this mail. Please provide solutions to the following questions.1) The link you gave for downloading drivers for FireWire 410 (for Windows 7), i.e., the page that opened for your supplied link, doesn't seem to contain the drivers for Windows 7, 64-bit SP1. Dear Sir,Now I DO have a valid question. When I bought my FireWire 410 audio interface, about 9 or 10 years back, I used in a desktop system. Then for some reasons, I was not making music, using the same setup. Now that desktop, which had the FireWire port, is in another city, and hence it is not physically possible to work with that system. Contrarily, my laptop (for which I now have the drivers) does not have a FireWire port! What is the solution to this problem? What I have other than this laptop, is one another desktop system (my father's.

Which he has graciously allowed me to use.), which runs on Windows 10. Please consider these questions, and answer them please.Thanks. Dear Sir,Now I DO have a valid question.
